Marching ever closer to the #1 Southern Gospel radio song of the 1980’s.  Today, we take a look at the song ranked 8th.

With Rex Nelon’s popularity, as a result of the years spent with the LeFevres, the Rex Nelon Singers immediately found success in Southern Gospel music. By June 1980, the Rex Nelon Singers would garner their first #1 song with “Come Morning”.

Dee Gaskin penned this now classic that was recorded on the group’s 1979 album, Feelings.

  1. Come Morning is the small country church anthem, a place where anyone with a song gets to sing, this song is almost always in the mix. I love it.

  2. Was that Karen Peck on the lead on Come Morning? I know she rose to the top on their other hit We Shall Wear A Robe And Crown”. Great! Thanks Steve for giving us these great memories we should never forget. I hope younger people get it too?

    1. Janet was featured on the original recordings of both Come Morning and We Shall Wear A Robe and Crown. Since Janet left a few years after their popularity rose, Karen sang them both live—especially Robe and Crown.
