Best Radio Songs Of The 1980’s: #13

Let’s get back to counting down the best Southern Gospel radio songs of the 1980’s.  The goal is to have the countdown complete before the month ends.

Ranked 13th among the best Southern Gospel radio songs of the 1980’s is the only song to make the list from the Spencers.  This Ohio based family was at their peak during the decade racking up quite a few top ten hits.

It wasn’t until the decade was closing (1989) that the Spencers finally got their first #1 song with the Gene and Val Johnson penned, “Coming Soon”.

  1. I have mad respect for the Spencers and think they had some great songs. Although this may have been their most popular, I found it to be excruciatingly long and boring. I remember hoping He’d come so the song would end. I’ll take Let’s Meet By the River or It’ll Be Worth It After All all day long.
