VOTING: Greatest Songwriter: Semi Finals

Happy Monday.  Today is the semi-final voting in our search for Southern Gospel’s greatest songwriter.  Championship round will be next week.  Please click on the link in the polls to hear a song written by the semi-finals 30 contenders.  Here are the rules for voting:

  • All readers of this blog can vote.
  • You are allowed to vote for one choice in each of the five polls.
  • You are allowed one vote per day.
  • The winner of each poll will advance to the championship round.
  • Voting closes Monday (11/14/16).

  1. It’s curious to me, Steve, how you came up with which songwriters to include in each separate poll. Can you explain how you arrived at that? If there are not quite a few people voting (the law of large numbers) who will also take the opportunity to vote everyday (even if they vote for different favorites), the voting would not be as meaningful, in my opinion. I appreciate what you are doing, it has just been hard to follow the way each set of songwriters was chosen for the various polls. But at least you didn’t put Bill Gaither and Dottie Rambo in the same poll, but you did put Andrae Crouch in with Dottie Rambo. But, like I say, I appreciate your efforts to showcase ALL the great songwriters!

  2. Thanks Steve. That helps explain things more except if a person’s favorite and second favorite are in the same poll, kinda takes away their options. I did notice that you put the songwriters in alphabetical order within each poll, which makes sense. PS–I noticed a typo for Stuart Hamblen’s name.
