Southern Gospel Tidbits

DID YOU KNOW?:  The Southmen Quartet was a regional quartet based out of Alabama.  The group formed in the mid 1970’s.  Some big Southern Gospel personalities spent time with the group including Buddy Burton, Tim Riley and Jack Toney to name a few.

The group’s biggest song came in the late 1980’s when another Southern Gospel personality, Tony Gore, was a member of the group.  Tony went on to find success with the Wilburns and his own trio; Majesty.

“Death Could Not Hold Him” was that hit song (click on link to listen).
