Top Ten Back Then

no8-desktoplogo (236x250)This week I want to turn the clock back to April 1979.  The Speers were riding high a top the Southern Gospel radio singles chart with “What Sins Are You Talking About”.

Landing at #8 on the April 1979 radio singles chart was the Galileans, “He’s Coming Back Again”.  The Galileans were no strangers to the Southern Gospel radio singles chart as they were the artist to chart the Gordon Jensen (now classic) song, “Redemption Draweth Nigh” in the top ten in 1972.

1979 (250x110)JR Baxter penned the hit single, “He’s Coming Back Again”.  The Galileans would go on to release two more albums (1979/1980) and then stopped touring sometime in 1982.

Other happenings in April 1979:

  • Baltimore Orioles manager Earl Weaver win 1,000th game as a baseball manager.
  • The final episode of “All In The Family” aired on television.
