Best Of 2015 – #10

Kingdom Heirs #10Today kicks off the top ten as we countdown the best Southern Gospel albums and recorded songs of 2015.

The Kingdom Heirs have rebounded with back to back successes in terms of album releases.  It started with Redeeming The Time (2013) and now continues with A New Look (2015).  Readers of this blog must agree because you chose A New Look as best album of the year in the 2nd annual Southern Gospel Views from the Back Row honors.

The addition of Brian Alvey at baritone has only made the Kingdom Heirs sound stronger as it compliments and sometimes enhances Arthur’s lead vocals.  Dianne Wilkinson still remains one of the Kingdom Heirs turn-to writers as she contributed quite a few future hits on A New Look.

Personal favorites from this recording include: “Never Made A Promise”, “As Many Times”, “Pieces”, “The Chain Gang”, “God’s Gonna Do More”, “Power In Those Bones” and “A New Look”.

Mylon Hayes #10The Mylon Hayes Family has had a great 2015.  They stood out at the 2015 edition of the National Quartet Convention and also provided listeners with new music on the album, Devoted.

The family recorded thirteen songs; not a single one to skip over.  There was one in particular I kept going back to and now it ranks 10th among the best recorded songs of the year.  Young, Conner Hayes, is featured on this country flavored tune.

The harmony the family provide is stellar and if this recording did not become part of your music collection this year, you need to remedy that.
