number4 (250x248)In this week’s top ten back then selection, we step back 15 years to October 2000.  In the world, the Sydney Australia summer Olympic games wrapped up with the US winning the most medals (97).  The 100th space mission was flown by NASA, while the New York Yankees beat the New York Mets in the World Series.

In Southern Gospel music the Kingsmen were enjoying the success of their song, “Getcha To The Other Side”.  During the month of October 2000, the Tim and Mary Alice Lovelace penned tune was #4 on the Singing News top 40 chart.  The song would eventually peak at #2.

2000 (250x106)The Kingsmen was having a string of success with the particular vocal line-up on this recording; Jerry Martin (tenor), Bryan Hutson (lead), Parker Jonathan (baritone) and Ray Dean Reese (bass).  This vocal configuration recorded six albums together.
