Southern Gospel Tidbits

poetvoices1993godismarchingonmaxDID YOU KNOW?:  I can’t believe how hard it must be for a songwriter at some point in their writing career to not use the same/similar melody to a song they already wrote on a new composition.  Especially songwriters who compose hundreds of songs over the course of their career.  That seemed to happen to Phil Cross on a song he wrote for the group’s debut album in 1993 titled, “Power In A Song”.  When the group released their final album in 2002, there was a song, titled “Sing Me A Song”, that reminded me so much of “Power In A Song”.  While the melodies aren’t exact, the song structure and wording are eerily similar.

1993:  “Power In A Song

2002:  “Sing Me A Song
