In this edition of the sghistory.com retro spotlight; the Downings 1971 recording This Is How It Is Live. The Downings spent their entire recording career with Benson Music Group releasing recordings under the Heart Warming and Impact record labels.
The group recorded two power house live recordings during their career, the first coming in 1971 with This Is How It Is Live. This recording featured the Downings renditions of many of the biggest songs of that era. It also had one of the group’s signature songs “I’ve Got Confidence”. Group members on this recording included Paul Downing (Bass), Ann Downing (Alto), Joy Gardner (Soprano), Wayne Hilliard (Lead) and Dony McGuire (Pianist).

One of the best recordings of all time! I used to play “One More Time” over and over as a kid!
I was the same way with “I’ve Got Confidence”.
LOVE this album. Ann had a CD version of this available at one time, not sure if she still does or not, but I have the LP, and ripped MP3s from it. Fantastic LP!
