The best of 2011 continues with the album and recorded song sitting at #19. The Dixie Melody Boys hit a milestone in 2011 that few groups reach in any musical genre; celebrating a 50 year music career. In September, the group released a special 50 year commemoration recording titled The Call Is Still The Same.
Bringing together a few former members of the group the Dixie Melody Boys released their best album in over a decade. Not only that, the recording was good enough to find a place at #19 among the best Southern Gospel albums of 2011.
Personal favorites from this recording include: ”God Will Hear Your Prayer”, “His Blood Alone”, “There’s Joy In Serving Jesus”, “Jesus In My Boat” and “The Call Is Still The Same”.
One of the top female vocalists in Southern Gospel music released her first solo recording in 2011. Libbi Stuffle released Journey in November. While the overall album was a bit disappointing with a lack of new music, there was one new song that became one of the best recorded songs of 2011.
Coming in at #19 among the best recorded songs of the year is “I’m Not A Failure”. Penned by Rodney Griffin and Joseph Habedank, Libbi uses her rich alto voice to interpret this message in song in a way that few can. A clip of “I’m Not A Failure” is provided.
Coming tomorrow: #18.
