How Long Has It Been?

When was the last time you experienced a truly great Southern Gospel concert experience?  When the artist on stage was ‘firing on all cylinders’.  When the atmosphere was electric and the audience was receptive to what was happening on stage.  When you as a participant in the experience realized there was more going on in those moments than just the singer’s performance.

As I sit here today and am listening to the Wilburns classic Alabama Lightning live recording, my thoughts hearken back to some really spectacular concert moments.  Those type of instances, when as soon as a certain song is heard, you seem to re-live that moment as if it was happening the very time you heard it in concert.

I was an ’80′s kid.  I have attended many concerts over the course of the last 30 years.  I have seen every major group to come along during this time period, and more.  I wonder why it is when I think about memorable concert experiences it always revolves around a specific time frame.  Are these kind of moments still made at Southern Gospel concerts?

When was your first concert?  Who was the artist on the program?  For me it was 1979 and it was the Hopper Brothers & Connie.
